My Wild Gift project is Convergence, an India-based school that offers adults the chance to learn from experiential environmental programs that promote innovative and sustainable lifestyles. In little over a year Convergence was built using all renewable resources and operates 100% off-the-grid through the use of solar and wind power that is generated on-site. Since that time the centre has received over 150 course participants ranging from kindergarten students from the nearby village to adults from around the globe. Courses have lasted as little as 3 hours to weeklong deep explorations of topics such as Deep Ecology and Holistic Food Systems. Convergence most recently hosted staff from Ashoka and UnLtd India for a multi-day course on Systems Thinking.
Convergence's operations have been transferred into the hands of 6 local partners who helped me start the centre. While staying in touch with Convergence in an advisory capacity I work as a community organizer, an environmental consultant and currently serve as the Ecuador Country Director for Free the Children. In addition I serve as the Chair of Wild Gift's Network Council as well as helping to develop the Trips program.
