The mission of Iain’s project - Convergence – located in Auroville, Tamil Nadu, India, is to be a leading residential center offering experiential environmental programs that promote innovative and sustainable lifestyles. The education center provides living examples of sustainable lifestyles in a multicultural setting. Convergence's facilities include solar and wind power, composting toilets, accommodations built using renewable materials, grey water systems, a native tree nursery and more than 20 acres of land in various stages of reforestation. In August of 2008, Convergence’s first year, an introduction to Holistic Food Systems, exploring food from the perspectives of the soil, soul and society, was provided. Since, more than 50 participants have explored topics ranging from deep ecology to body awareness, always with the goal of spreading Convergence's educational message. Iain is currently residing in Toronto, Canada and keeping in touch with his colleagues at Convergence while working as a community organizer.
